Spiritual Direction is an ancient art of listening compassionately to the work of God in the life of one of his precious children.
Spiritual Direction is not counseling, its not coaching, and its not a practice in theology or education in the Catechism. Spritual Direction focuses on the movement of God in your life and my job is to listen and help you to see how God is speaking to you.
My focus is on helping directees explore their relationships with God through compassionate listening, Spirit-led conjecture, and prayer.
My Training
I was trained and certified at Divine Mercy University in the contemplative evocative approach. This approach employs listening techniques and discernment to observe and listen intently within the context of your dialogue with the Lord. It is also to evoke, to call up, bring, or recall movements of the Holy Spirit to your conscious mind.
I am also supervised by a supervision group to maintain and grow my skills.
How do I know I'm ready for Spiritual Direction?
There is little required for starting spiritual direction beyond a desire to grow in faith and an ongoing prayer life of some kind. If you are talking to God in some way we can start spiritual direction.
How often do I see a Spiritual Director?
Typically once a month for up to an hour.
